I am passionate about connected devices and home automation since more than 10 years. It all started with an objective to reduce energy consumption at home and the costs associated with it.
I ended up collecting every connected device I could find which can be integrated in a home automation system to simplify or better automate daily tasks in the house for energy management,
safety and access control, entertainment and comfort, and finally monitoring pollution.
Below is an overview of the devices I integrated so far in my Home Automation system
The central piece in my home automation system is the IP-Symcon software developed by the German company Symcon GmbH. In 2005, there were not many home automation solutions available and after a few trials and errors, I found IP-Symcon which fulfilled all the requirements of the software developer I was at that time, namely flexibility and extensibility with a possibility to integrate devices and generate automation scenarios with PHP scripts. It quickly attracted a large developer community and I became myself an active contributor and implemented several scripts and modules which I shared with the community. Details about the projects I worked on and scripts or modules I implemented for my Home Automation System can be found here with links to downloads.
The following table lists the integrated devices classified by communication technology or protocol.
